[FIRST NAME GOES HERE], reconcile, don't resolve

Happy New Month Reader, we're in the sixth month of the year already! It feels surreal, this newsletter started as a joke, but somehow I've become obliged to deliver something to you weekly. I'm happy with how far we've come together, Reader. Have a beautiful month!

How are you doing today? Before you give the default reply you've conditioned yourself to deliver, look within and answer truthfully. You're what now? 18? 22? Age isn't the number we make it to be; it's experience. So in your years of life's overwhelming experience, you should know that you gain nothing from lying to yourself except delusion, and believe it or not, a delusional life is terrible. Acknowledge your feelings, understand why you feel them, and write them down. There's a saying, "if you want to fill the mind, read. If you want to empty the mind, write." A filled mind has so much to offer; an empty one can take so much more. Grab that pen right now and pour out your feelings, they might be temporary, but they radiate enough for people around us. If you are in doubt about radiation, ask Nagasaki about Hiroshima.

The year is halfway; what about your goals for the year? Are they halfway to being fully ticked, or you've abandoned them? I will always remind you that your goals need you to work. It's never too late to realign with your goals if you haven't been doing something about it. Reader, don't just read this passively; act on it.

You're getting this newsletter very late compared to recent weeks because I've been in a state where writing hasn't appealed to me in the last few days. I don't know how to make a blank page full anymore, and a blank page stays a mystery, a continuous dichotomy between straight lines and space. I thought my problem was the screen, but my fingertips are now confused by the chaos on my keyboard and have now forgotten how to make the keys unlock the thoughts sitting pretty behind the doors of my mind. I tried a pen, but on pages where my pens try to find respite from the kisses of friction, the ballpoints no longer have the balls to write. They have become flat, afraid of the wall blocking their way, and my words can't seem to jump over. The thoughts of you, Reader are why I've been able to manage these little ramblings. Hopefully, it doesn't bore you.

There was a screenshot that made rounds on the streets of Twitter, and if you're familiar with that street, you would know that whoever coined the phrase "variety is the spice of life" should be regarded as a genius, a philosopher, or a prophet, whichever appeals to you. The screenshot was about Mr. A hearing that his friend Mr. B was hosting a house party, and Mr. A was surprised he didn't get an invite because how can Mr. B, his nigga forget to invite him. Mr. A summoned the courage of all the past Avatars (except Korra, of course) and asked Mr. B, "hey, Mr. B, your party. I want in." Mr. B was surprised, and he asked Mr. A if he had filled out a form he had sent to him three months ago. Mr. A then remembered that he procrastinated on filling out the form, that's why he didn't get the invitation to the party.

Mr. A is undoubtedly better than you and I, Reader. Kendrick Lamar in Aunt Diaries said, "I was taught words was nothing more than a sound. If everything was pronounced without any intentions." Why did I say Mr. A is a good person than you and I? His use of words shows his intentions; he simply asked to be at the party rather than blaming or resenting his friend silently. This brings me to something I read recently.

It says to be a person of reconciliation and not a person of resolution in a relationship. We face conflict in our lives more often than we can account for but instead of looking for resolution, let's focus on reconciliation. I learned there's a clear distinction between those two words. Reconciliation means re-establishing the relationship, while resolution means resolving every issue.

Most likely, there won't be a resolution since some things you will not agree on. Everyone on this planet disagrees with you about something, so resolving all your disagreements is technically impossible. Is it possible to have a loving relationship without agreeing in every aspect? Absolutely.

If you learn to disagree without being disagreeable, that's called wisdom. Having the ability to walk hand-in-hand without seeing eye-to-eye is called wisdom. You can do tremendous good in the world if you become a bridge builder rather than a wall builder, especially in your relationships with people.

However, you can't make with people without making peace with yourself first. My favorite saying is, "one hand washes the other before they can both wash the face." If you practice Islam, your ablution starts from the hand, not the face. Only clean hands can boast of cleaning anywhere else.

My two cents: Chaos is a regular part of life, hold yourself, soothe yourself, choose yourself. You're all you've got, the center of everything around you. Enjoy your weekend, avoid amala, and love your friends genuinely.

Reader it’s been a minute or an hour or a week anyways; you get the gist. It’s another week of me reminding you to love yourself, choose yourself, and clap for yourself. I don’t know what you think I’m like, but I can assure you that I’m nothing close to being perfect; I’m very far from it. Omo, before I get carried away, how are you Reader? How was your week? How did you maneuver the whole week? My week was okay until the last 48 hours, a series of news has found a way to destabilize me. Let...

I missed you, Reader. Did you miss me? It's been a while, it's one of those breaks that I'm unapologetic about. I was sandwiched between a lot of deadlines, travels and meetings. Imposter syndrome didn't hold back with squeezing my jugular (major reason I didn't write to you). That's about that about my unfortunate break. Once again, I miss writing to you Reader. How have you been? How have you been able to cope during the tough times? Are you taking care of your mental health? Never forget...
